Warde Wrestling - Guilford

Warde Wrestling (December 20th)       

 

Warde Wrestling has a strong showing at the Guilford tournament finishing first among CT schools and second overall behind Warde Melville LI. Warde placed 11 wrestlers top 4 and 5 in the finals. Warde finished with an impressive 4 champions.

At 103 Senior Cameron Barnard finished a strong third going 3 and 1 with 3 pins. Warde had their first champion with Sophomore 119 pounder Evan Fraser who dominated his opponents going 3-0 and pinning a strong Warde Melville wrestler in the finals. At 125 JR Brandon McBreairty had a strong showing finishing 4th on the day. Junior Ian McAllister lost a tough match in the finals at 130. Ian had a lead before getting caught in the finals to a returning state place winner from Newtown. At 135 Junior Bobby Rigilano was warde second champion. Bobby won the Guilford Invitation for the second straight year with a convincing 6-2 decision in the finals. Curtis Watkins continued the success winning the tournament pinning all three of his opponents in the first period at the 140 weight class. Ian Markowitz lost a tough decision to the eventual champion and finished third going 4-1 on the day. At 160 Warde had their 4th champion with Sophomore Alex Delaney dominating his opponent with a 16-6 decision. At 189 Alfonzo had a strong showing at a tough weight class finishing 4th. Senior Anthony Anania wrestled well defeating the only wrestler who beat him for 3rd place. Finishing out the field Nate Bass finished 4th at HWT. Other wrestlers who contributed were Jake Bender (125), James Neamonitis (130), Kyle Kelly (140), Luke Allen (152), Enzo Cardillo (215), and Marcio Ventura (215). Warde will finish out the week with wilton at hime on Tuesday 5pm at Warde.
